Dear AZNIGP Members,
Wow it is already September! Hopefully, the heat will break soon and I hope your survived the Haboob last week. What a wall of dust that was. Soon we will be enjoying the weather we all live here for. For me, I live in Arizona because I am from Chicago. Don’t miss those cold winters at all.
On August 5th, we held our in-person Career Seminar II with close to 100 in attendance. Dr. Kristen Hurtado of the Center for Procurement Excellence talked about Navigating Procurement Challenges in Service Contracts and gave us Strategies for Success. Also, David Stueber, Arizona State Procurement Administrator and his team provided us with a Glance into the Future of Statewide Procurement. We celebrated the folks that received their certification in the Spring testing window. It was a wonderful in-person meeting. We are still working on a hybrid solution in the very near future so that more folks may have an opportunity to benefit when they are unable to attend in-person.
Back on July 22nd, the Copper Chapter invited our members to their training meeting and the information exchanged was beneficial to all. Our chapter will return the favor on September 16th by inviting the Copper Chapter to OUR Chapter Training Meeting so save that date too and get registered at our website now! The speaker will be Sean Carroll the former Chief Procurement Officer for the State of New York. He will be speaking about how to deal with crisis situations. We will also have a presentation from our Membership Committee to remind everyone of the benefits of being a member of our great chapter.
On August 21st, many of the Board of Directors attended the August Copper Chapter training meeting. It was another opportunity for a great exchange of information. One of the items discussed was both that both are chapters are committed to making all online Chapter Training Meetings available to both chapters. Our two great chapters are really working together to support each other like never before. It is so awesome to be part the ARIZONA public procurement family.
I will mention this again, we currently have over a dozen procurement professionals that are members of both chapters! They see the value each chapter brings. Our chapters do so much to support the public procurement community and it is sensational that we are so willing to help and work with each other. You may find the same benefits by being a member of both chapters. Just something to seriously consider. Visit their website at
Copper Chapter.
Our 36th Annual Regional Conference and Vendor Expo is just around the corner on October 16th. Registration is open on the website so register soon! Michael Greene and his Regional Conference Committee have been working to put together a great conference including top notch sessions for all. We still have vendor booths left so please encourage your vendors to snag a booth at our website before it is too late. Please encourage your end users to attend the Vendor Expo for free. This is great opportunity for them to interact with multiple vendors in one setting.
As always, remember to check out the calendar on our website to register for upcoming NIGP Courses and professional development opportunities. Please reach out to me anytime at
Bill Munch for all things AZNIGP!
Being active in our NIGP Chapters in Arizona is just another great tool in your procurement toolbox! Have a great September, everyone.
